Seat belts prevent serious injuries to mother, children in rollover crash
10/27/2008
Grand Rapids, MI - State police say seat belts prevented serious injuries to a mother and two children after their car rolled over Sunday on U.S. 131.

The occupants got out of the car before it caught fire.

A trooper happened upon 5:25 p.m. crash on U.S. 131 south of M-55 in Clam Lake Township. The 49-year-old Lake City driver and her two children were already out of the vehicle. The trooper used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.

Police said speed and icy roads contributed to the one-vehicle crash.
