Starting a business? Here’s all the compliance info you need.

If you're opening a business, you're not going to get very far without an inspection from the fire marshal.

The problem is that for most business owners, getting your fire safety equipment and compliance in order is overwhelming and stressful.

We don't think it has to be.

A visit from the fire marshal doesn’t have to be a point of stress for you as a business owner.

A visit from the fire marshal doesn’t have to be a point of stress for you as a business owner.

If you’re trying to handle it alone, here are some of the things you’ll need to make sure are compliant with your local fire safety codes before the fire marshal visits to inspect:

  • Fire extinguishers - you’ll need to have the proper type and number of extinguishers for your business, hung in the correct places, properly marked, and certified for the current calendar year.

  • Emergency lighting - your lighting will need to be placed at various points throughout your business so that there’s always a clear line of sight to the nearest exit sign. The lights will need to be properly installed, tested monthly, and you’ll need to have emergency lights that function if you lose power.

  • Evacuation plan - you’ll need an evacuation plan printed and posted visibly in your facility so that your staff knows how to react in the event of an emergency and can get themselves and others to safety in an orderly fashion.

  • Miscellaneous - the fire marshal will also be looking for the way your electrical receptacles are placed and mounted, what types of electrical devices you’ve got plugged into them, and will check the facility itself to make sure that all of your doors, windows, sprinklers, and electrical systems are functioning the way they should.

It’s a lot to manage. But you’re not alone.

Instead of trying to handle the process of getting and staying compliant yourself, just let us handle it. We'll make sure that your business is up to code so that the fire marshal gives you his seal of approval and you can get up and running faster.

You've got enough on your plate. Let us handle your safety compliance.
