Fire Extinguisher Inspection and Service in Madisonville, KY
You shouldn't have to keep the date. We do.

Most people glance at the date on an extinguisher and figure they're fine. The date only tells you when somebody last put hands on it. It doesn't tell you whether the work got done.
We inspect and service fire extinguishers out of our Madisonville shop at 1503 West Noel Avenue. It's a staffed shop — weekdays 8 to 5, with after-hours emergency service when you need it — and the techs who cover Hopkins County run out of that building. You don't bring anything in. We come to you. Call 1-800-348-9604 when you're ready to get on the calendar.
What the tech does on each extinguisher
A tech walks the building and puts hands on every extinguisher. Each one is inspected and serviced. The place keeps running while we do it.
On each unit the tech checks that the pin and tamper seal are in place and whole, that the gauge is in the green (CO2 units get weighed instead), that the hose and nozzle are clear, that the cylinder isn't dented, rusted, or leaking, that the label is readable and faces out, that it's hung where it belongs with a clear path to it, and that it's the right type for what's around it.
When it's due for 6-year work or a hydro test
Stored-pressure dry chemical extinguishers get discharged and an internal examination every six years before they're recharged. The valve comes off so the tech can look inside the cylinder. A new verification collar ring goes on under the valve. That ring only fits with the valve off, so a whole ring is how you know the work got done.
A hydro test checks the cylinder itself — every five years for CO2, water, and Class K, and every twelve years for most dry chemical. If a unit fails, it comes out of service and gets replaced. If testing and recharging would cost close to a new one, we'll tell you.
When one is due, we pull it during the regular visit. Our trucks carry loaners. If a cylinder has to ride back to Noel Avenue for a hydro test, a loaner goes up in that spot until yours comes back. More on hydro testing, and on what good service really looks like.

Shops, trucks, and equipment
A lot of extinguishers around Madisonville live in truck shops, hydraulic shops, and mine-service outfits — on the wall, in a bay, or riding on a truck or a piece of equipment. We recharge on site when we can, and that matters out here.
Fuel, hydraulic oil, and parts-washer solvent change what belongs on the wall. The tech walks the shop first and matches the extinguisher to the hazard. When a handheld can't cover what a machine can throw at you, that's a system job — see vehicle and equipment suppression or coal mining.
Around town and Hopkins County
In town we also take care of daycares, churches, restaurants, schools, stores, and city buildings. A restaurant needs a Class K by the cook line; the hood system over it is its own job on its own schedule.
From this shop we also work Owensboro, Henderson, Hopkinsville, Morganfield, and Central City. Madisonville is the Hopkins County seat, and the same techs cover the small towns around it.
Reports the inspector can use
We work to NFPA 10. The local fire marshal has the final say on your building. Plants answer to OSHA as well. Mines and mine-service sites often need reports that match MSHA or Avetta. We leave a report after every visit, and a copy stays at the site. There's a sample on our fire extinguisher service page.
Between visits, and if one gets used
Our yearly visit isn't the whole story. Somebody should look at every extinguisher once a month — in place, pin and seal whole, gauge in the green, nothing blocking it. Your people can do that, or we can. Some plants around Madisonville have a tech come through once a month and leave a report each time. More on how often extinguishers need to be inspected.
If one gets used — a small fire, a broken pin, anything — it's out of service until it's recharged or replaced. Take it off the wall and call 1-800-348-9604. We offer 24-hour service for discharged units and emergency replacements.
We've been doing this since 1984, over 40 years. We're 5-Star Rated on Google. Fire alarms and exit and emergency lights can sit on the same calendar as your extinguishers — one company, one number. See fire alarms.
Madisonville questions
- Do I bring them in?
- No. The techs drive out to your building, shop, or site. You don't haul anything to Noel Avenue.
- Can you take over from our current company?
- Yes. We'll walk what you've got, tell you what shape it's in, and put you on the calendar.
- Is it cheaper to just buy new?
- Sometimes. If testing and recharging would cost close to a new extinguisher, we'll tell you straight and you can decide.
