Fire Extinguisher & Fire Protection Service in Marion, IL

Served from our Paducah shop

First-Line technician checking the valve on two red fire extinguishers in the shop

We work Marion out of our Paducah shop on North 8th Street. We've been family-owned since 1984.

Marion is the county seat of Williamson County, right where I-57 crosses Route 13, with I-24 starting just south of town. A lot of southern Illinois comes to Marion to shop and eat out, and you can see that in our work here. Restaurants are the biggest part of what we do in Marion. Here's what the businesses in town need from us and how we take care of it.

Our techs are certified and licensed, and they come in a company truck and in uniform. We're licensed and fully insured. Your doors stay open while we inspect. We leave a report.

Every commercial cook line needs a hood system over it, and Marion has all kinds, from steakhouses and Japanese grills to burger places and pizza. We service hood systems every six months, and we can work while the kitchen is cooking. When a kitchen changes or an old system has to go, we can put in a new one. The ABC extinguishers around a building work on grease, but a commercial cook line also gets a Class K, and we look after that one too. If you're opening a new place, call us before the line goes in.

On the industrial side there's an auto parts plant, with fuel, oils, machines, and electrical rooms under one roof. One kind of extinguisher doesn't fit every corner, so we match the extinguisher to the hazard. We keep up the yearly inspections, the recharges, and the hydro tests, and we replace the ones that are past saving. When a handheld isn't enough for a machine or a process, that's a suppression system.

Along I-57 there's warehouse and trucking work, with racks, forklifts, and trucks coming and going. The extinguishers there have to stay where people can reach them, not behind a pallet. There's also a union training school in town, and the extinguishers in its classrooms and shop need the same inspection as anybody else's.

Churches, banks, clinics, and child care centers have exit signs and emergency lights, and every one of them has to come on when the power goes out. When we inspect, we run the full 90-minute battery test on every one, along with the extinguishers.

Marion also has a broadcast campus and medical offices with equipment that can't take water or powder. In rooms like that, the extinguisher should be a clean agent like Cleanguard+. It won't damage the equipment, and the bigger sizes carry an A rating, so they also cover the paper, wood, and plastic in the room. By the electrical panels, CO2 is a good fit. It isn't the pick for the equipment racks, though, because the cold discharge can thermal-shock sensitive electronics. Both still need their yearly inspection like every other extinguisher in the building.

We do more than extinguishers, too. We put in security cameras, so you can keep an eye on the register, the doors, and the lot. We take care of kitchen hood suppression and the exit and emergency lights. For a server room, a control room, or a plant process, we install clean agent and other special hazard systems and engineered suppression systems. We also do vehicle suppression for trucks and heavy equipment, hydro tests for anybody who needs one, and fire safety training for your employees.

Wherever you are, we recharge on site when we can. Our trucks carry loaners. If an extinguisher has to come back to the shop, a loaner goes up in its place until yours is back. Employees get extinguisher training when they start and every year after that, and we can do that training for you. If something gets discharged or a system goes off, our 24-hour service is there day or night.

In Illinois, the Office of the State Fire Marshal licenses the companies and the people who service fire extinguishers, and the people who work on kitchen hood systems carry a license of their own. Our Paducah shop and the techs who work Illinois hold those State Fire Marshal licenses. The fire marshal has the final say on what your building needs.
